Classic Whipped Buttercream
Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. meringue powder
  • 1/2 cup hot water

Stir together water and sugar until dissolved then add meringue powder and beat to thick meringue.

In another bowl cream:

  • 2 cups Cake Icing Shortening  OR 1 cup white margarine and 1 cup Cake Icing Shortening
  • 1 1/2 tsp. flavoring
  • 1lb powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

When all creamed, add 1/2 of the first mixture and gradually beat well.  Then add remainder of meringue and beat 10 minutes.
